The Danger of Trimspa

The original Trimspa contained ephedra, which is known to cause rapid heart rates possibly leading up to heart attack. There is now a ban on ephedra for those exact reasons. Therefore, Trimspa had to change its formula. But did that make it any safer?

Trimspa came out with X32 that supposedly contained Hoodia Gordonii, a powerful appetite suppressant used by hunters in South Africa. The San Bushmen would chew on this plant while they hunted the Kalahari Desert so they wouldn't get hungry and give up if they didn't catch something right away.

The problem is, (as stated in a February 2004 lawsuit) there is no proof that X32 actually contains anything from the actual Hoodia Gordonii plant. Obviously, if there is no real Hoodia in it, there would be no appetite suppressing qualities.

Some other disturbing side-effects listed on the actual Trimspa website include swelling of the throat, or blockage of the esophagus due to swelling resulting in choking. It's also possible to experience vomiting or chest pain (for which you seek immediate medical attention!). You also shouldn't take Trimspa if you have a shellfish allergy or if you are overly sensitive to caffeine.

The real problem with Trimspa and other diet pills is that the weight people lose most rapidly is water and muscle; they actually lose very little fat. Then, when they stop taking the pills, the weight piles right back on, faster than ever, only this weight IS fat.

It is dangerous to lose weight too quickly because the first weight to drop is water weight, and therefore dehydration sets in. Fatigue and loss of energy or stamina are other symptoms of dramatic, speedy weight loss.

It is always better to lose weight slowly, and let your body adjust to the changes. Because of dangerous side effects, we’ll have to give Trimspa a pass.
